Dr Larry Smith
Larry is a founding partner of The North 40 Network. His life work is creating systems for individuals to develop and articulate essential skills.
For 25 years he Directed the University of Oregon Career Center, establishing many innovative programs focusing upon decision-making; individual skill identification, assessment and development; incorporation of technology; and establishing and developing connections between all types of organizations for recruiting and internships. At UCLA he directed the MBA Career Center and the Educational Career Services Office. He served on the Board of the Western Association of Colleges and Employers for over 15 years and was a regular conference presenter on topics including Skills Employer Seek, The Ideal Candidate, Career Portfolios and College Outcomes.
He contributes perspectives gained from a wide array of experience from farming; the military; living on the west coast and in the south; international travel including Italy, France, Great Britain, Iran; CFO for 20 years of a family business; work at 5 institutions of higher education; and active involvement in professional associations and local social service organizations.
He is CEO of Benchmark Solutions, Past President of the Board for Committed Partners for Youth and recently connected businesses to middle schools for a literacy partner program.
His Doctorate is from UCLA and he holds degrees from Oregon State University.
