Marcia B. Harris
Marcia B. Harris has been in the career services field for over thirty years, having most recently served as director of University Career Services at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Marcia has been active in professional associations related to career services, particularly in the Southern Association of Colleges & Employers (where she served in many positions, including president) and the National Association of Colleges & Employers (where she held a position on the Board and has served on and chaired numerous committees). Marcia is known for her expertise as a career consultant, external reviewer of other career offices, and in assessment techniques. She has received a number of awards, including the NACE/Chevron Award for Innovative Programs (twice), the SACE Ajax-Griffin Distinguished Service Award, and the NACE Award for Excellence in Technology. In 2004, Marcia was elected to the highly prestigious NACE Academy of Fellows.
Marcia is the author of numerous journal articles and is co-author of the highly acclaimed book, The Parent’s Crash Course in Career Planning (Amazon, 2007)
Marcia has been cited on ABC World News as well as in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, The Miami Herald, The Boston Globe, Cosmopolitan, and a variety of other media sources. She has been a consultant to over 75 colleges and corporations on career issues.
Marcia is a graduate of Vassar College and has a master’s degree in counseling from North Carolina State University.
